SYNHELP: Accessing Synopsys Tools Man Pages

 

SYNHELP utility allows users to search for the Synopsys Commands and view Manual pages in an easy and convenient way. Run “synhelp” in order to get the following window:

 

 

Write pattern in the Command Search entry and push the “Entry” button. The list of all matching commands will appear in the list box below the search entry.

Double Click on the chosen command from the command list or choose the selected command and push “OK” in order to view its manual page:

 

 

Note: A number of man pages can be launched at once.

 

Command Line Options:

 

synhelp [–syn | -pt]

 

Use –syn option in order to view Design Compiler man pages.  If no options were used, it is equivalent to –syn option.

Use –pt  option in order to view PrimeTime man pages.

 

 

Instalation:

 

  1. Copy synhelp utility and make it executable (chmod +x synhelp)
  2. Set SYNOPSYS environment variable to your synopsys installation directory (Example: set SYNOPSYS /toolls/synopsys/2000.11)
  3. Run synhelp.
